Close the Loops That Drain You

You can’t scale clarity if your mind is cluttered.

🧠 ONE Smart Idea

Most founders run into friction not because they’re overworked…
…but because they’re over-open.

There are too many open loops:

  • Half-made decisions

  • Unsent replies

  • Unprocessed thoughts

  • Ideas hanging in limbo

You might not see them.
But your nervous system feels every single one.

Looped attention = Leaked energy.

And as long as those loops stay open, you’ll keep experiencing:

  • Low-grade anxiety

  • Scattered focus

  • Decision fatigue

  • Background guilt

Today, we clean the system.

📖 Story Spark

One of the biggest upgrades I made this year had nothing to do with strategy.

It was this simple shift:

“I don’t leave tabs open in my mind.”

That meant fewer Slack threads I ghosted.
Fewer decisions I delayed.
More moments of closure—on purpose.

Not because I needed to be a machine.

Because I needed my energy back.

⚙️ Tactical Application: Run a Year-End Loop Audit

This is less of a productivity hack, more of a mental detox.

Step 1: List the Open Loops

Take 15 minutes. Brain dump everything still taking up mental real estate:

  • “Should reply to…”

  • “Still need to decide if…”

  • “Haven’t closed the loop on…”

  • “Keep meaning to…”

  • “Still wondering about…”

You’ll feel lighter just writing them down.

Step 2: Sort with the 3C Filter

Next to each loop, tag it:

  • Complete: Close it. Today. Doesn’t have to be perfect.

  • Calendar: Schedule it. Give it a future, so it leaves your now.

  • Cancel: Let it go. Declare it non-essential. Energy returned.

This is where momentum builds.

Step 3: Close with a Ritual

Pick one “Complete” loop that’s been draining you all quarter.
Close it with care. Even a voice memo, message, or decision note will do.

Then end with this phrase:

“That tab is closed. I don’t need to hold it anymore.”

Let your nervous system feel the shift.
